New Business E-Visas for St. Petersburg

    Starting October 1st 2019 you can visit St. Petersburg and its surroundings if you are traveling for business, tourism or humanitarian purposes but there are certain restrictions. You must be an eligible citizen from a list of 53 pre-approved countries and exit through the same port of entry or checkpoint.

    The visa is valid for up to 30 days from the date of issue but only allows you to enter for a maximum of 8 days. You can apply 24 hours a day on the website of The Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. You should receive your visa within 4 days including weekends and bank holidays and your passport must be valid for at least 6 months before it expires.No invitations from particular businesses or individuals are required, nor are hotel reservations. There is also no need to visit any Russian Consulates or Embassies beforehand and the application process for St. Petersburg E-Visas is free. There is no cost. 

    After you submit your application and are notified of approval simply print out the notification and/or download it to your mobile device. When asked by transport company employees show them your printed paper visa or the electronic version on your mobile device. You will be asked again by the border officer at one of the established crossing checkpoints.

    The E-Visa will only be valid through the established entry and exit points, and you must enter and exit through the same entry/exit point. The following is a list of eligible ports of entry and exit:

      • Entry by rail is not possible at the moment. Please check the website of The Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for updates.
      • If you are traveling with children, they must each have an individual E-Visa as well. 
      • IMPORTANT: The 8-day E-Visa is not valid for the entirety of 192 hours that those days comprise (i.e. 24 hours x 8) but rather begins and ends at midnight on the day of arrival. So if you arrive on November 1st at 8 pm you must depart on November 8th at 11:59 PM latest.
